The Kiwanis Club of Nepean held a rally on September 29th at Centrepointe Theatre to welcome Joe Roberts who is pushing a modified shopping cart in his cross-Canada trek to draw awareness and raise funds to combat youth homelessness. The event was well attended by various youth groups and organizations, members of the public and other Kiwanis club members from the Ottawa area. Gord Clark, President of the Kiwanis Club of Nepean served as Master of Ceremonies for the rally which featured musical presentations by the Spirit of the Streets Choir and classical guitarist Daniel Ramjattan from the Kiwanis Music Festival, a presentation of a civic proclamation by Ottawa City Councillor Keith Egli on behalf of Mayor Jim Watson declaring September 29th “Joe Roberts – Push for Change Day” in Ottawa and an inspiring presentation by Joe Roberts.

Following Joe’s presentation, representatives of the 872 Kiwanis Air Cadet Squadron and the Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club made financial presentations to benefit the Push for Change project. The Kiwanis Club of Nepean made a generous $5,000 pledge to Joe Roberts and his initiative to end youth homelessness in Canada.

A free BBQ followed in the Atrium at Centrepointe at which time, attendees had the opportunity to meet and chat with both Joe and his wife Marie who is also his Campaign Manager. Joe expressed his appreciation to the Kiwanis Club of Nepean for organizing the event and reiterated his thanks to all Kiwanis members in the Ottawa area for their enthusiastic support of his Push for Change initiative.
